Andy Liddell has left Athletic after agreeing to have his contract terminated. The veteran winger (35) will be paid a settlement on his existing contract which was to expire in the summer. Liddell made 144 appearances and scored 33 goals during his four seasons at Boundary Park and hopes to remain in the game.

Alan Hardy told Latics World, "We sat down with Andy this morning to discuss his situation, and the result was that the club would be terminating his contract. An agreement has been reached on a settlement and the player has now left the club with immediate effect. Andy has been a model professional throughout his time at Boundary Park and has been an excellent servant to the club. Everyone connected with Athletic wishes Andy well in whatever he does next and he leaves with our best wishes."
