Liddell has not given up hope

Andy Liddell has not yet given up hope of going to Wembley. The 33 year old believes that an early goal will give the Latics all the incentive they need to pull off a shock second leg victory in a game where Blackpool begin as clear favourites.

Liddell (pictured) told Latics World, "It's definitely still on. There's only one goal in it. After the game there was a feeling that Blackpool probably should have scored more due to the amount of chances they created, but hopefully they've had all the chances they're going to have now. We need to keep it tight and provide more chances for our strikers. Two-one is nothing, and if we get the first goal then it's going to be one hell of a game."

"It was frustrating but we can't really complain that Blackpool won by a single goal. Our penalty was a bit iffy. I thought the one for handball near the end was more certain, but we got one so we have to be grateful for that. I managed to stick it away and now it's game on. It'll be a cup final atmosphere and we need to make sure we get the first goal and go on to win the game. Obviously the mood wasn't very good after the game as we'd lost, but we got back in training and just got on with it. We're picking ourselves up and starting all over again. We've got a couple of days to sort out a few knocks and then make sure we go there and do ourselves justice. We did that in the first half but definitely didn't in the second. Now we need to do it for 90 minutes. I'm confident we can win. We were in front there until the last minute in the league game, and now we need to make sure we get that lead and hold onto it this time."
