Little man to replace Smart man

Colin Little of Crewe could be the man to replace sacked striker Allan Smart. Little was surprisingly handed a free when he was squeezed out of the Railwaymen's team last season. He was Crewe's leading scorer from 97-99 but was restricted to only nine starts last season and he scored just twice.

Little (29) was bought from Hyde United for £50,000 in 1996 and Athletic have already been in contact with Crewe. Little would jump at the chance of a transfer to Boundary Park and he said, “It would be an ideal move for me as I live in Manchester, but I don't know anything other than what my agent has told me.”
