Midfielder Kevin Maher is confident that the Latics can continue their unbeaten run and kick on with a promotion push. After the Carlisle game he told the official Latics website, "We're on an encouraging run of form. We got a good win on Boxing Day and I think we turned in a decent performance against Carlisle. Now we'll be looking to take our form into a tough away game at Huddersfield and hopefully start turning a couple of draws into wins. Eight games unbeaten shows that bit of consistency you need in this league."

"We are disappointed we haven't won the game, but I think it was the best we've played at home for a little while. We had a lot of the ball, but it just wouldn't drop in the box and we couldn't create that little bit of something special. I had so many corners to take and that shows the pressure we put on them. We needed something to drop for us but it just didn't happen. Sean Gregan's effort at the end took a slight deflection and dropped wide - on another day that goes in and you get the three points."
