Neil Wood could be the next major signing as John Sheridan attempts to bring him to Boundary Park on a permanent basis. Talks have opened with the 23 year old midfielder after some good performances against Southport, Shrewsbury and Preston North End.

Wood was formerly the captain of Manchester United reserves and Sheridan said, “I will be speaking to Neil in the next couple of days because I like a player who can pass the ball, and that's exactly what he is. He has done well since he came here and has not let himself down at all, so we'll see how he feels. Coming from United he's technically very good, but there are bits of his game which need work. He's a decent player but can still improve, and hopefully that's what we'll be trying to do.”
