Manager impressed with performance

Manager Ronnie Moore was impressed with Athletics win over Bradford City at Boundary Park on Boxing Day and is convinced that the victory will be a spring-board for at least a play-off spot.

Moore told the official site, "I thought Bradford were dead and buried but we let them back in the game with a penalty on the stroke of half-time and it could have cost us dear, luckily it didn't. It was a good three points and after scoring two goals so quickly we might have gone on to score three or four. Our passing was second to none before the interval and going forward it was probably the best we have played so far."

"In the second half we created our own problems and some of the chances we gave to them were self-inflicted. Over the 90 minutes we were the better side. The crowd sensed it and really got behind us. A lot of clubs will think they can finish in the top six and we have as good a chance as any of them if we continue to play like we did in this match. Let's hope there are plenty more performances like this to come."
