After Tuesday's victory over Walsall, Ronnie Moore told the official site, "I thought we were the better side and we deserved to win the game but once again we shot ourselves in the foot. We got the second goal to go two nil up and then in the end we were hanging on. Their goal was a nothing goal again, but it gave them that little bit of hope, they have took chances and we have been lucky with one or two of the corners that have come in. Daisy (Chris Day) made a great save to tip the ball round the post. It would have been a tragedy if they had snatched an equaliser.“

"If we would have come off the field with a draw I would have been very disappointed. I thought Butcher did very well again he put himself about and won the ball. I would have liked to have seen a little bit more from Porter. He did well to get himself a goal but he needs to be a little stronger but at the end of the day he's still a baby and he is still learning his game. Warne and Liddell were both lively. The front three did o.k. Edwards did a tremendous job for us in the second half playing in a left back role because they threw caution to the wind and chucked everything at us. He was also fantastic going forwards. He has got that little trick, and it always works, where every body can see where he is going and he always manages to get there. Some of his deliveries were excellent. Unfortunately for us we just didn't get on the ends of enough of them.“

"Mark Hughes also did a great job for us he was well disciplined in an unusual role. Merson brought a lad on with a bit of pace thinking they could expose him. I though he handle him very well. Walsall then threw caution to the wind and that is where a good side will get the ball down and pass it, but we seem to get nervous. At two nil up you would think it was cigar time but unfortunately we gave them a life line from a set play that ended up in the back of the net a little to easy for me. But at the end of the day it was three points and a win. It was evident on the field that the lads are trying to do the right things and are looking to pass the ball, and at times they did it well."
