McDonald joins Aberdeen

Midfielder Gary McDonald has agreed a two year deal to take him to Scottish Premier League team Aberdeen. McDonald turned down a reasonable offer from the Latics as manager John Sheridan was keen to keep his services.

As McDonald was out of contract in June, FIFA regulations state other clubs are entitled to make an approach or a pre-contract offer to him and Aberdeen did everything by the book. McDonald made a total of 91 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals, the most important being the winner at Everton in the FA Cup.
