McLaren signs for the opposition

The Latics are disappointed that press releases have ended their chances of signing Paul McLaren. It is club policy not to comment on transfer speculation but the club feels the need to respond following recent events. Under normal circumstances, McLaren would have taken his medical, and if passed would complete his signing for the club.

McLaren's agent was unhappy that the Oldham Chronicle let slip the news that he was set to join the club. In light of the information, McLaren decided to sign for Ronnie Moore's new team, Tranmere Rovers.
