Moore blames injuries and a lack of consistency

Ronnie Moore has summed up the current position of his team and believes that injuries and a lack of consistency are the reason why they are not pushing for automatic promotion. Although they are only two points away from a play-off spot a few losses could easily push them back into a relegation dogfight.

Moore said, “At this level, because of the standard of football, you always get topsy-turvy spells unless you are lucky. There’s no reason our players shouldn’t put a winning run together, but if this was a school report it would be "Could Do Better". It must be nice to be manager of Chelsea and know your team is going to perform week in, week out. Here, I could play a tape recording at half-time because I seem to be saying the same things every game. All season it has been about keeping the ball better, passing it and not making mistakes at the back."

“The only way to improve consistency is to buy better players, which is obviously difficult for us, but there are ways of trying to get round it. When we have a bad day, we don’t just carry one or two people, we are bad all over the pitch and it’s hard to pick a man of the match. That’s when you need to stay compact and composed, to keep your discipline and be hard to beat.”

We will see what happens when Moore gets his full squad back to fitness and there is nothing to blame any failures on.
