Moore communicates to fans

I am sure you will agree we are having a fantastic season, the second in succession, after a decade in the doldrums, play offs not absolutely certain, but almost………Down to you and the lads, Iain, and two games left!

Off the pitch we have not managed finances as well as we should. The Club is still dependent on me and I continue to inject significant amounts of capital into the Club on a regular, routine basis. To ensure the Club has a long term, stable, financial future, we have to restructure the non-playing side of the Club. This is an essential pre-requisite to provide a solid foundation for the playing side.

I have long since seen the division between the playing side and the non playing side of the Club as an endemic fault line running through the very core of football as a whole. Well, at Oldham we are doing something about it. Iain Dowie has agreed to work with me to conduct a widespread review of the whole Club with particular reference to football related matters. He will also use his knowledge and act as a sounding board for me on my Business expertise. The review will include everything from corporate structure to how we provide the pies on a Saturday afternoon!

Alan Hardy, who has served the Club well for many years, could provide an immense amount of valuable input to Iain and myself. However it is with great reluctance that I announce that Alan is currently suspended from his duties whilst remaining on full pay and will do so until further notice.

In the meantime any communication you need to make with the Club should be directed to Iain, Sean Jarvis or myself. We will make further announcements in due course, but it will be sometime before the strategic review is completed. Plans for next season are already underway even before this season has finished and both Iain and myself have repeatedly committed our future to Oldham Athletic Football Club.

Your continued support and commitment to the Club is not only vital for our success but is also extremely well received; we appreciate it immensely, please keep it up.

Chris Moore.
