Moore disappointed

Former Latics boss Ronnie Moore was disappointed that his team could not provide the killer punch to see off brave Latics. He told the official Tranmere website, "I think we were the best side in the first half and they shaded the second half. A draw would have been a fair result. To give offside - there's no way in this world it was offside."

"There were a lot of positives. We tried to play, tried to pass it and tried to get the ball in the box. If Gregan hadn't been playing for them I think we'd have won the game easily. He was the best player on the pitch today and bossed and bullied one or two of our lads."

"The lad got a free header for the goal. The one who was supposed to be picking him up has let everyone down. Danny thinks he should have done better but the lad should have buried it from there anyway. We never finished enough of our attacks behind the back four, a lot of our football was in front of them in the second half."
