Moore in triple swoop

Ronnie Moore has made a triple swoop to bring three wanted men to Boundary Park.

1) Rob Scott (31) who spent the last seven seasons at Rotherham has been released due to financial restraints at Millmoor. Ronnie Moore stepped in to capture a player whom he has admired for some time. Scott (pictured) said, “The manager called both me and Paul (Warne) in to the office and told us he was listening to offers for us both because Rotherham could no longer afford to keep us. In fact Mick Hartford said Rotherham, by letting us both go, could in fact bring in 5 new faces! I have enjoyed success with Ronnie Moore before and all the talk around the football circles amongst the players is about Oldham Athletic and how they are planning big things next season, there is talk of new stadium, new players and a forward thinking board....I want to be part of it all especially after spending the last 12 months in the doldrums at Millmoor”. Chesterfield failed in a last gasp attempt to sign Scott and he turned them down to sign a two year deal with the Latics.

2) Paul Warne (32), who also worked with Moore at Rotherham, has finally agreed terms and has undergone his medical to join the Latics on a deal which will keep him at the club until June 2007. Warne describes himself as an attacking midfielder and quipped, “I have been very impressed with the speed of the negotiations and I am looking forward to another promotion push under Ronnie Moore. I have tried for 7 years to get away from Rob Scott and blow me if when I arrive at Boundary Park, his is the first face I see!”

3) Stoke have finally allowed Gareth Owen to join the Latics. It has been a tug-of-war all season but the if’s, but’s and maybe’s are all over now as Owen has finally agreed terms and has undergone a medical. Owen has twice been on loan at Boundary Park but his new deal will keep him at the club until June 2008. Owen told the official website, “I am so excited about this deal, finally my dream move is about to come to fruition. I feel this club is going places and I want to be a part of it. I am so, so happy, this is a good deal for me and hopefully a good deal for the club”.
