Moore ready to pledge his troth

Ronnie Moore is now days away from pledging his troth to Athletic. As previously reported, the manager is in advanced talks and the future of the club is looking rosy as the fight against relegation is all but completed. Other good news is that both Stefan Stam (pictured) and Scott Vernon are ready to sign new contracts. Both players are due to become free agents soon and Moore is offering them both a two year contract as he sees them as an integral part of his plans for next season. Vernon has still to break into Moore’s team but Stam has been putting in outstanding performances since he made his debut and has claimed a defensive berth as his own.

Moore plans for a squad of 25 but at the moment has only eight players tied to contracts. Marc Tierney, David Eyres, Kevin Betsy, Steve Mildenhall, Mark Hughes and Dean Holden all have contracts which are due to expire soon. Gareth Owen and Luke Beckett have recently been offered terms to keep them at Boundary Park while John Eyre, Rodney Jack, Danny Boshell and Wes Wilkinson are on the way out.
