Moore sacked from Tranmere

Ex-Latics boss Ronnie Moore has been sacked as manager of Tranmere Rovers. His three year reign at Prenton Park was brought to a close last week after attendances had dropped by 19% last season. Moore admitted that the sacking came as a 'massive shock' as the Merseysiders just missed out on the play-offs last season. Tranmere are looking for a quick replacement and Accrington boss John Coleman is one of the forerunners. Other names being mentioned are Paul Ince, John Barnes and Jason McAteer.

Moore said, "What happened was a massive shock - it was a massive surprise to me. I never dreamt for one minute that was going to happen, but one thing you know as a football manager is that you're going to get the sack sometime."
