More player movement

Rob Lee (pictured) has finalised his short term contract at Boundary Park and the former England midfielder will be wearing the Oldham blue until 18th. December. Lee could make his debut against Hartlepool tonight. As Rob Lee signs his namesake, David Lee, leaves the club after they decided not to renew his short term contract.

Manager Brian Talbot said, “David came to us at a time when we were struggling with injuries in midfield and has helped us through a difficult period. I would like to thank him for all his efforts during his short stay and hope he gets fixed up with another League Club. It’s a shame for David, but he has become surplus to requirements. He has served us well, especially because we’ve had a few injuries, but other midfield players have come in and overtaken him. Obviously Rob Lee is one of the new players, and I would have thought we’ll look to involve him in the Hartlepool game. It’s a long time since he played so let’s see how things go, but I’ve seen him in training and he can pass the ball all day.”

Aaron Wilbraham is another player to return to his home and has gone back to rejoin Hull City after his contract expired after the Bradford game. Wilbraham scored two goals on his debut against Stockport and also made four more appearances, including helping the Latics into the LDV Vans quarter finals. At the moment the Latics are well blessed with talent with Chris Killen returning to form, Scott Vernon being able to slot into the team and Kevin Betsy has now returned to the fold after being suspended.

Talbot said, “Kevin was disappointed not to be in the side after finishing his ban, but I was always going to use him at some stage. We had worked on a few things in training and I thought he would be difficult to pick up if he played just behind the other striker.”
