Murray and Pogs for Palace?

It looks like the double swoop on the Latics players by ex-boss Iain Dowie will be successful. Athletic have reluctantly agreed to the offer for Les Pogliacomi (pictured) and Paul Murray. The offer is a derisory one considering the true value of the players. Alan Hardy said, “We have spoken to both players and told them we would like them to stay. But as from January 1st. we cannot stop out-of-contract players from speaking to other clubs. Palace have made a bid for both players which we have reluctantly accepted. You have to bear in mind that both of them can leave for nothing at the end of the season.”

Paul Murray has still not decided upon the move and said, “I spoke to Iain Dowie early in the week because you have to keep your options open when you are going to be out of contract. Just because I spoke to Palace, that doesn’t mean I will sign for them next week, next month or whenever. I can see myself having a future with Oldham Athletic as much as I can see a future anywhere else. I’m not sure what will happen at the moment, but as long as I’m here I can guarantee absolute commitment to the club.” The new owners have offered new deals to both players but in reality it cannot match anything that Crystal Palace can offer.
