Murray turns down move to Rotherham

Midfielder Paul Murray is in demand again and Athletic will be hard pushed to retain his services as he can leave for free when his contract runs out in summer. Three First Division clubs and a Portugese side have enquired about his services and Murray recently turned down an offer to join former boss Iain Dowie at Selhurst Park.

Athletic accepted a £50,000 bid from Rotherham but Murray turned down the offer. He said, “Everything wasn't right with the offer from Rotherham and I am in no rush to leave Oldham. I was impressed with what the new manager had to say. It looks to be a very good appointment. He seems to be cut from the same cloth as Iain Dowie who I had a lot of respect for and unless something else happens, I will be here until the summer at least.”
