Athletic go into Saturday’s six-pointer game at Stockport with good news for once. John Eyre has a 50-50 chance of playing after making good recovery from his hamstring injury which he picked up recently at Swindon Town. Talbot said, “John will do some light work and we’ll see how he gets on. It is a slight risk but he’s the type of experienced player we need in our present position.”

Striker Chris Hall has also resumed training after being substituted in his debut game against Bournemouth with a calf injury and will be named in the squad. Jermaine Johnson is also named after serving a one match ban.

A new face may be seen in the team as Aaron Wilbraham (pictured) comes into contention after being signed on a one month deal from Hull City. The 26 year old striker is recovering from injury and Hull’s manager Peter Taylor said, “I've got no doubts that he's a good player and if it means he goes there and plays five or six matches in the League rather than playing two or three reserve matches then that is only going to help him with his match fitness. He'll be even more important to us when he comes back. However I do want to stress that this is only a loan deal and there's no way that I'm going to let him go on a permanent basis.”
