New captain to be appointed for Saturday

Sean Gregan's three match ban means that Athletic need a new captain in his absence. The problem leaves manager John Sheridan has a huge decision to make. Three players automatically spring to mind - Andy Liddell, Mark Allott and Neal Eardley - as they have all lead the Latics team on different occasions.

When Ronnie Moore was in charge in the 2005-06 season, Liddell was skipper and he has also captained the team under Sheridan. Last season Allott stepped in on several occasions as did Eardley, who became the youngest captain in the club's history at the age of 19 years. It's a problem for Shez but whoever dons the armband will give their all to keep Athletic's amazing start to the season going.
