New Start Mortgage stand to be demolished

The New Start Mortgages Stand is to be demolished at the end of the season, providing the Latics do not make the play-offs. The final game at home is against Cheltenham on April 26 and demolition will begin as quickly as possible after that date.

Simon Blitz told Latics World, "The decision has been taken at Board level to demolish the stand after the final home game of the season. Now a demolition company will come in and advise us how it's going to be done. We know the plans and we know we want the stand, so let's go ahead rather than stop half-way through a season, re-locate people to demolish it and then have to wait another three months. We believe the best time to do it is in the summer, then the site's clean when people come back for the new season."

"We've still got a few things to iron out so we're not 100% sure of a start date. But we're hoping to start in around January or February and that will give us the build time we need. The stand plans themselves are still basically the same, and we're continuing to work with the Council to address a few issues as far as roads are concerned."
