No game but not much worse off

Athletic had another game cancelled because of the freezing weather and had to be content to sit at home and twiddle their thumbs instead of taking on Brentford in the postponed Boundary Park game. The Latics rivals were in action however and had mixed results but, on the whole, left the Latics in not too bad of a shape after playing their fixtures. Tranmere claimed a good point at Charlton in a 1-1 draw which moved them onto the same points as Oldham whereas next to bottom Wycombe Wanderers fought out a 2-3 success away at Bristol Rovers but bottom team Stockport, where the Latics travel on Tuesday, lost again, this time at Southampton.

Of the teams directly above the Latics, Brighton lost 1-0 at home to Millwall, Gillingham drew a blank in a 0-0 draw with Walsall but Exeter City picked up a useful point at Franchise FC. The results leave the Latics still fourth from bottom and two points away from safety although they have at least two matches in hand on their rivals.
