Latics manager John Sheridan was full of praise for Chris Porter who hit both goals in the remarkable win at Nottingham Forest. After totally running the show and bringing an end to Forest's amazing unbeaten run Sheridan said of Porter, "I've always had a lot of faith in Chris's ability. He was out for a long time with his knee problems and has missed a lot of football, but having him back is a great boost. They were both goalscorer's goals, the kind of thing we've been missing, and he has proved what he can do."
"Chris has a good record and I don't think he's even at his best yet because he needs a few more games. Let's hope he stays fit all season. Our first half performance was excellent. Forest might be top of the division, but we totally outplayed them and made a lot of chances.”
