O'Halloran to be released

Matt O'Halloran is to be released as manager Iain Dowie is looking at ways of bringing new players to Boundary Park. Midfielder and former Derby County man O'Halloran has been playing on a monthly contract but has failed to make an impression and Dowie is prepared to let him go. O’Halloran has made just two starts and has scored just one goal when he came on as substitute against Rushden and Diamonds.

Dowie said, “Matt's shown a great attitude in his time here and in different circumstances I would have liked to have kept him here longer. Because of our (financial) situation I have difficult decisions to make and letting Matt go may
let me bring someone else in.”

Dowie is still in the process of adding to his squad but added cautiously, “We won’t be rushed and have to make sure that when we bring in a player it is the right one. The lads played very well last Saturday when we should have beaten Swindon. They want to improve and it is important we keep on believing.”
