Old club wound up

More than 100 years of Oldham Athletic history was wiped out in a four minute court hearing on Thursday. The Administrators for the old company appeared before a judge in Leeds and wound up the business. The new club, Oldham Athletic (2004), will continue operating as normal under the new owners Simon Blitz, Simon Corney and Danny Gazal.

The original OAFC has now been struck from all official records at Companies House. Athletic were forced into administration after being served with a winding-up order by the Inland Revenue as the only other option was to go into liquidation because they had lost approx. £3 million a year during the controversial “Chris Moore” era. Most debts were written off after creditors agreed to a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA). Thus begins another new era.
