Owen calls for support

Club Director and supporter's spokesman Barry Owen has called for a show of support for Athletic saying that it is a time for unity not division. Athletic have won just one game from their last nine and a defeat against Chasetown, the lowest ranked team still left in the FA Cup would be a disaster of great magnitude. Chasetown (average gate 105) have already sold 3,600 tickets and local team Walsall's fans have taken heart with their neighbours and will also be supporting the minnows in huge numbers.

Owen said, “As the fans’ representative at board level, I would ask the footballing public of Oldham to really get behind our team. I understand the frustration and disappointment which is being felt because many people at the club are feeling the same way. Starting tomorrow night, we need to put all that behind us and do everything we can to help Ronnie Moore and the players."

"Chasetown are bringing over 3,000 fans, which is a phenomenal turn-out, and we’ve got to show them our crowd are up for it as well. We would all love to be top of the table and already into the FA Cup second round, but it hasn’t turned out that way. I hope everyone remembers that Oldham Athletic Football Club is bigger than any problems we might have at the moment.”
