Penney said: "We always knew it was going to be a tough game, we are both down there fighting for the points, we have gone to Tranmere and got three points and now we have got a point here.
"They beat Leeds here and under the circumstances, with a couple of penalties given against us, we are happy to take a point."
He added: "We aren't too happy with the first penalty, we thought it was six of one and half a dozen of the other and then they had one on Marcus Stewart which probably was a penalty.
"But the referee has probably realised he made a mistake and gave another one. I was a long way from it, but the reaction of our players was that we weren't happy with the decision."
