Penney to sort through existing players

Dave Penney will set about the task of sorting throught the existing players who remain at Boundary Park and deciding who he will be keeping for the coming season. There are seven out of contract players - JP Kalala, Stefan Stam, Lee Hughes, Kevin Maher, Sean Gregan, Matty Wolfenden and Mark Allott - and they wait patiently until the new boss returns from holiday. His first job will be to meet with all the players and he will have some tough decisions to make.

Captain Sean Gregan (pictured) has been at the club for three seasons and admitted it is a time of uncertainty. He told the Oldham Chronicle, "I haven't heard a thing and it is an uncertain period. It's the first time in my career that I have been out of contract. Don't get me wrong, I'm 35 and I know I am not going to get clubs offering me three-year deals. But I'd like to think I've show I can still play at this level and, as I have said before, I would like to stay at this club."
