The Latics have been given a loan of £275,000 from the PFA to help pay the player's wages. Alan Hardy (pictured) said, “The matter has been a long drawn out affair which was delayed because of the securities needed by the PFA. I am now delighted to confirm that the arrangement was satisfactorily concluded today.

We are extremely grateful to the PFA and in particular, their Deputy Chief Executive, Mick McGuire who has kept in close contact with me throughout the past 2 months. A lot of clubs are experiencing financial difficulties and have turned to the PFA for help, and they always try to do as much as they can. This loan improves our cash flow in the short term and gives us some breathing space and scope to agree settlements on some of the player's contracts”.

Athletic have 15 months to repay the loan.
