Phillips on loan

The Latics have given a trial to Stoke City winger Demar Phillips, a 25 year old Jamaican international has been capped 27 times. Phillips is included in the squad to face Grimsby Town tomorrow and manager John Sheridan is hoping to set up a season long loan. He is a tricky left winger and could be the final piece in Shez's plans if he plays up to expectations.

Sheridan told Latics World, "I spoke to Tony Pulis on the UEFA Pro Licence course during the summer and I appreciate him letting us have a look at Demar. Hopefully he will do well and give me food for thought. Demar looks like a quality player and he'll be involved tomorrow and around for the Derby game. There is a chance of first team football for him here and Tony's been kind enough to let him come."
