Players watch "Horror Show"

Athletic manager Ronnie Moore has made the players endure a screening of what he described as the “horror show” from the midweek Brentford game. He pointed out that the performance was unexpected and totally unacceptable and the players held their hands up that they were out of order. A new attitude is being promised by the players for Saturday’s visit of league leaders Luton and Moore said, “Whether it picks up the players or kills them remains to be seen. It wasn’t punishment but I wanted the players to see how silly the mistakes were for the goals we conceded. Luton is clearly going to be a difficult game but we must show commitment and desire.”

Moore has been unsuccessful in his bid to bring new faces in to bolster the failing confidence of the current squad although the official site revealed that a deal to bring Delroy Facey (pictured) from Hull City was close to being completed. Facey is currently on loan at Hudderfield. Another player mentioned was Gary Jones from Tranmere but a cruel twist of fate meant that the deal had to be called off as Jones broke his toe. “We had a deal for Gary finalised and it is incredible how things are going against us at the moment,” Moore admitted. Blackburn Rovers’ midfielder Gary Harkins was another target who was watched by Moore when he scored a goal for Rovers reserves side. Moore described Harkins as, “Only a young kid but he did well recently at Bury and he is big and strong.”
