Poggi stays and Murray is considering his future

Les Pogliacomi has rejected a move to Crystal Palace after considering their offer. After talking with the Latics new owners he convinced them that he wants his future to remain at Boundary Park.

Paul Murray is still considering the approach and said, “I knew that Iain was going to come in for me because when he left he said he would. We went
down to Palace on Monday to talk to them and to be honest, it's a great setup and I won't hide the fact that I would like to work with the gaffer again. He's very professional and I've no doubt he will be successful. It's a massive decision. On the football side of it things look fine, but I have a young family to consider and have already spent 5 years in London with Q.P.R. which weren't the best of times. I want to make it clear that I am an Oldham Athletic player and never asked to leave. I'll continue to give 100% commitment and I hope to speak to the new owners about a possible deal that could persuade me to stay here at Boundary Park. If Shez were to get the job, that would be an important factor in my decision as I hold him in high regard and would like to continue working with him.”

Both players are set to play against Grimsby this ‘Celebration Sunday’ weekend and have pledged total commitment to the game. John Sheridan said, “It’s going to be a special day, but three points against Grimsby would make it even better. I’m trying to breed confidence because avoiding relegation is all we should concentrate on at the moment. We’ve been playing well generally and the lads deserve respect for what they have done – some of our squad weren’t even in the reserves last season. All I ask is that they give it everything, but we need to get up that table.”
