Les Pogliacomi has undergone hospital tests after being butchered by former Latics player Adrian Littlejohn, a late challenge which went unpunished by a lenient referee. Poggi landed badly on his back and was carried off. He is now losing the feeling in his right leg. It is thought he damaged a nerve which is causing his leg to go numb.

Iain Dowie said, “Scans will tell us more, but at the moment we aren’t sure how long Les will be out for. Hopefully he will be okay, but it was a stupid challenge by Littlejohn. Although you don’t want people being sent off, I’ve seen it happen
for tackles like that.”

The incident sparked off several bust-ups and Fitz Hall had to be separated from Littlejohn by Dowie at the final whistle. Of the Hall incident Dowie commented, “There was a lot going on which I’m not getting involved with. Fitz did have to come off with a knee injury, but it was only a precaution. He should be fine for
the Barnsley game on Saturday.”
