Porter tribunal decision

The tribunal meeting in Manchester has dictated that the Latics will have to cough-up £50,000 immediately to neighbours Bury for striker Chris Porter. If Porter makes 15 appearances it will cost another £25,000 with a final fee of £25,000 should the young striker build up to 30 appearances. The tribunal also added a sell-on clause to the contract to a tune of 15%. Bury were requesting a fee of £275,000.

After the ruling, Barry Chaytow said, "We are satisfied, it was a reasonable result" and Ronnie Moore added, "Chris could develop into a very special player and I think we have a bargain. He had only been at Bury for a couple of years and didn't come through their ranks. I am sure that was taken on board when the decision was made."
