Praise from Sheridan

The Latics put in a good performance at the Keepmoat Stadium and came away with a useful point considering that their squad was heavily depleted through injuries. Paul Heffernan shot Rovers into a deserved first-half lead but Latic's substitute Jason Jarrett got the visitors back on level terms early in the second-half, thus denying Doncaster their fifth successive home win.

Manager John Sheridan was full of praised for his team's effort and for keeping automatic promotion place hopefuls Doncaster at bay, particularly in the last ten minutes when Rovers were pressing hard. Sheridan told Latics World, "I was very pleased with the result today considering all the injuries we've got. Full credit to the lads, they battled away well and I can't fault their effort, particularly after going a goal down. Their goal was poor on our part but we did very well to come back and once we were at 1-1 I was comfortable, apart from the last ten minutes where we tried our best to throw the game away."

"But the effort was there and we created one or two problems against a very good footballing side who make their opposition work hard. Jason came on and produced a good finish, but we're our own worst enemy at times. We gave them their chances without them having to open us up. But I'm pleased we came away with something."
