Problem left back spot to be solved?

Athletics problem left back spot could be solved by former Premiership star Alan Wright who was released by Sheffield United at the end of last season. Wright has arrived at Boundary Park and could feature in tonight's friendly at Rochdale. Wright is 35 and began his career at Blackpool before moving to Blackburn Rovers during their glory years in the 1990's. He then moved to Aston Villa for a fee of £1 million where he made well over 300 appearances in an eight year stay at Villa Park. After a short stint with Middlesbrough he moved to Sheffield United in 2004. First team appearances were limited last season and Wright had loan spells at Cardiff, Doncaster and Nottingham Forest.

Paul Boertien was on trial last week and played at Barrow but he did not do enough to win a contract. If Wright shows enough promise at Rochdale he could be offered a deal to make the left back spot his own.
