Sky Sports have reported that Ricky Ravenhill admits he discussed a move to Oldham Athletic before agreeing to join Notts County. The midfielder will sign a two-year contract with Notts County to move to Ian McParland's side from League Two rivals Darlington. He was wanted by his former Darlington boss Dave Penney at Oldham and explored the possibility of a switch to Boundary Park. However, Ravenhill was impressed by the setup at Meadow Lane and is confident the future is bright for the Magpies.

"Their ambitions match mine, so it was an easy decision for me to make once they made me an offer," said Ravenhill in the Nottingham Evening Post. "There were other clubs showing an interest and I spoke to one. The manager at Oldham told me he wanted me, but there was nothing concrete. I didn't join Notts because they were the first to make me an offer, though. I joined them because I got a good feeling about the club, because of the way the manager was with me when we met. It just felt right."
