Ripley equals record

Goalkeeper Connor Ripley equalled the club’s clean sheet record in the last league match of the season at Wimbledon. The Latics managed a 0-0 draw to finish 17th in the league after a season which had previously threatened relegation. Peter Clarke played a big part in the revival and also came to Ripley’s rescue when he cleared a first half attempt off the line when the keeper was beaten. However Ripley played out of his skin to thwart all of the Don’s attempts on goal.

Ripley said, “I’m over the moon and I can’t thank Peter Clarke enough for everything he’s done for me throughout the season. What he did today has helped me get the record and I can’t thank him enough. It was emotional at the end. The fans have been amazing through the course of the season. They have sang my name all through the match and it’s only fair I thanked them. I have loved this season. There have been more lows than highs if I’m completely honest but I think what we have achieved is great. I came in with five players and we’ve kept 18 clean sheets and avoided relegation and it’s a massive thing. I’ll always look back on this and will always be grateful for the chance that I’ve had at Oldham.”
