The Latics have signed Anton Rodgers, the son of the Liverpool boss, on a one year contract, with an option to increase it by another 12 months. Rodgers is 20-year-old and plays in midfield and has been on trial at Boundary Park.
Latics' boss Lee Johnson said of the capture, “I had a good look at Anton before we signed him and he is hungry and keen to get a foot on the football map. Anton is a player who possibly will go unnoticed to fans, but football people will appreciate what he does for the team. He has a very good football brain and is a neat and tidy player. He is the sort of player who will get a team ticking and is a pivot as he keeps the ball, tidies up and his passes set up forward players.”
