Rodney Jack is almost a Latics player and manager Brian Talbot is also holding talks with another First Division striker in his determined attempt to bolster Athletics poor scoring record. The mystery player is available on a free transfer and if Talbot is able to offload Michael Clegg, Dave Beharall and Matty Appleby then funds will be available to make the double signing. Jack is 31 and will add much needed pace and could be the missing player that the team has recently lacked. Could he be the first player to hit 20 goals in a season for what seems like ages? If Jermaine Johnson signs the deal currently on offer, that would also add valuable experience to Scott Vernon, Wes Wilkinson and Chris Killen who currently make up the remainder of the strikeforce.
