Rugby argument continues

Last updated : 02 February 2002 By Steve Smith
Once again the spectre of rugby league rears it's ugly head.! There seems to have been little response from the Latic's fans, in print, who strongly oppose ground sharing. Almost all comments in the local media, ( especially the rugby biased Oldham Evening Chronicle, ) is from disgruntled rugby fans, looking for a scapegoat.

Time to strike back.! It has nothing to do with O.A.F.C. what happened to Watersheddings / the so-called Oldham Bears' and any sympathy we Latic's fans may have had for their current plight, long since disappeared when the
campaign to discredit us started. Everywhere you turn, the Rugby club, it's fans' and now the local MP are coming out as vehemently anti-Latics; ( the Oldham Chron is famous amongst Latic's fans for being pro. rugby at our expense. )

Every Latic's fan I have ever spoken to does not want to share the pitch / ground with any Rugby team, either permananently or even for a one off. Take a look at the pitch now it has been refurbished and only football is played on it....Superb. No way will it stand up to rugby....all other pitches from Q.P.R. /
HUDDERSFIELD / BURY etc. have terrible surfaces....exactly because they share with rugby clubs.

Add to that the sheer arrogance of Hamilton and his cohorts, sniping at Latics at every opportunity and the pathetic comments of their ignorant fans in the local press and I for one say it's time to put the matter to rest once and for all...come on Mr. Moore...make yourself an instant hero to all Latic's fans and ban the rugby team sine die.!

The sooner we get promoted and you buy back the ground the better. Just to prove that we Latic's fans can be constructive, why don't the rugby club invest what monies they have in Oldham St. Annes...that would benefit both and no one would care about a cut-up pitch after the first game of the season.? What say you?
