England World Cup star Paul Scholes rates former Latics player, former boss and Latics legend as his all-time hero. Andy Ritchie became his idol when he used to support Athletic at Boundary Park. He said, “Andy Ritchie was the best. I used to watch Oldham and he scored the goals and was head and shoulders the best player. Andy Ritchie was my first hero, and then Frankie Bunn. They are still my heroes. You don't change, do you?”
Ritchie responded, “Thanks Scholesy – the feeling is mutual. I'm really flattered by Paul's comments. I just wish I was a bit younger and could get the chance to play with him.
