Latics defender Rob Scott has been told that he could be out of action for the remainder of the season after dislocating his shoulder. Scott has made 27 appearances since signing from Rotherham and may now need an operation to pin the joint.

Ronnie Moore said, “The shoulder will almost certainly have to be pinned, so unfortunately we’re looking at a serious injury. Scotty has had a problem with it before, and this just happened when he was chasing a ball in training and stumbled over. It’s a big blow because he’s so versatile that we can use him just about anywhere on the pitch. You need players like Scotty, so I might look around and see if we can bring in a replacement.”
