Defender Seb Hines has signed on loan from Premier League side Middlesbrough. Hines is 20 and has signed a one month deal with an option to remain at Boundary Park for the remainder of the season. Latics boss John Sheridan said of the signing, "Seb is a player I have been interested in for a while and we were hoping to get him in during the January window. He has played for Middlesbrough in the Premier League and we know he is an excellent defender who is also good going forward."

"Importantly, he can also play in a number of positions and that kind of versatility is important, especially going into the second half of the season. It is nice to have a number of options in case of injuries and we have defenders near to suspension as well. Seb will bring us more quality and we are delighted to have him here."
