Sheridan contract renewed

John Sheridan has been offered a new contract as youth team and reserve team boss. The one year contract came as some surprise as Tony Philliskirk will be in charge of the youth team for next season.

Ronnie Moore explained why he thought it was important to keep the former Irish International on board when he said, “We’re going to have a squad of about 24 professionals next season, and myself and John Breckin can’t take care of them all. The reserves job is going to be very important because it’s a supply line to the first team. I haven’t worked very closely with John Sheridan yet, but I want to keep him here and see what he can do. He had vast experience as a player and hopefully he’ll be a very good coach as well. His main job would be to take the reserves, but he would also travel with the first team on match days and have some input there. John is highly valued by people at the club and I hope he agrees to stay with us.”

After Iain Dowie left the club Sheridan took over as caretaker manager before working as Brian Talbot’s number two. Sheridan is currently studying for his UEFA coaching badge and should soon be fully qualified.
