Sheridan furious over penalty decision

John Sheridan was furious after Athletic conceded a dubious penalty kick which stole another two points away from the home game with Doncaster Rovers. He branded referee Dean Whitestone's penalty decision as "a joke" after he gifted Rovers a point in injury time.

Mark Allott put the home side ahead near the end of the first half but Chris Taylor was adjudged to have fouled James Coppinger in the box, but replays have confirmed that the incident happened well outside the area. Sheridan confronted the official in the middle of the field following the full-time whistle, and the incident could land the manager in hot water once again.

Shez told Latics World, "I've seen the penalty decision and it was an absolute joke. He's two yards outside the box. I'm even debating if it's a foul at all. Chris may have tugged a little bit, but there's no way that's a penalty and I'm going to see the referee now. It's a joke."

"I'm 60 yards away and I've seen it right. But the referee and the linesman will both agree they've done the right thing. If I complain and moan I get punished, and I hope those officials get punished because they've done wrong."
