Sheridan hit with another problem

Latics manager John Sheridan is facing a trying time as his increasingly successful team continue to build up a serious promotion push for this season. Other clubs are starting to take an interest in his promising crop of exciting young players. It is reported that there were no less than twenty scouts at the midweek win over Crewe Alexandra. It is well documented that Liverpool are high amongst the admirers of Neal Eardley (pictured) and Chris Porter's recent scoring record is also making other clubs take an interest in him. Sheridan is keen to keep his crop of youngsters together as they are realistically capable of gaining automatic promotion if they stay free of injuries.

Sheridan said, "There's nothing on as far as I know. If we keep winning and my players keep performing, then clubs are going to come to watch us. If people are taking note that that's good for the club as it means we're doing well. Hopefully myself and my staff can keep improving them as players. I want them here as long as possible while I'm in charge. I keep repeating that we've not done anything yet. We're fourth in the League and have now just got to crack on. I want the lads to be confident, believe in themselves and enjoy their football. That's what it's all about."
