Sheridan is confident, but not over-confident

Once again, Latics manager John Sheridan will be taking nothing for granted when the team visit Southern League King's Lynn for the televised game in the Second Round of the FA Cup tonight. Much as he was wary of being over confident of Kettering in round one, Sheridan is again taking a cautious approach to the game.

He said, "Everyone wants an upset but I think we can go there and win, and so do the lads. Like I've said before, we're on television for a reason. It's going to be a very difficult game. The lads are taking the game very seriously and we'll certainly be treating them with respect. If we play like we have been doing then I don't think there'll be a problem. King's Lynn are a good footballing side including one or two ex-League players with a bit of experience, including Matt O'Halloran who used to play here and Dean West who I played against when he was at Burnley. They will have a bit of information on our lads and there'll be a big crowd behind them on the night. Also, I don't know what the weather's going to be like, and that could be a factor. We should never look at winning two, three, four, five-nil. A lot of people will be expecting us to win but we must go there and be professional. It's a good tie for them. They'll believe they can win so good luck to them, there's nothing wrong with that. I'll just be concentrating on what my lads are going to do."

Athletic will be taking an 18 man squad with the only absentees being the on loan players Tomasz Cywka and Adam Legzdins who have both been refused permission to play by their clubs. Sheridan is expected to name an unchanged starting line up following last Saturday's win at Huddersfield Town. Paul Edwards and Terry Smith have both been draughted in after recovering from injury.

The ground capacity at The Walks ground in King's Lynn has been raised to 5,700 and cup fever is gripping the Norfolk club as they have almost sold out all their tickets. The game will be all ticket and visiting fans are advised not to travel without a ticket as they will not get in.
