Sheridan looks at youngsters

Latics manager John Sheridan has been looking at Wigan's teenage striker Chris McCaughtrie. Sheridan is in the process of building his team for their assault on the 2008-09 season. The 18 year old has been on the books of Manchester United, Manchester City and Blackburn and has been a regular member of Wigan's reserve side. He is available on a free transfer and will be tried out in the Latics reserves games.

Also on trial will be left-back Ray Shearwood who is being released by Preston North End. The 18 year old is a left sided player who was formerly part of Liverpool's youth set-up.
