Sheridan not a happy camper

John Sheridan was not a happy camper after the latest humiliating defeat at the hands of Southend United last Saturday. He has warned his team that every player is under scrutiny and that no-one has a guaranteed place in the team. The defeat dropped the Latics to the bottom of League One and he faces a tough task to create a winning spirit for next Saturdays visit to struggling Walsall.

He fumed, "Everybody in the squad has a chance of playing. I'm not frightened any more because I need to sort things out. Places are up for grabs, believe me, and no-one is playing well enough to think they are going to be in the team next week. It's not easy because we don't have any money to bring players in, but we just have to get on with it. These are still early days, but we're in a bad run and I'm wary of our position in the league."

"We would move right up the table if we got a little spell of two or three wins, but I've got to make sure we get that first victory from somewhere. We don't have enough cutting edge and we are making silly mistakes at the back which are costing us every week. Reuben Hazell came at short notice because Neal Eardley has been doing a lot of travelling. We had a practice match on Friday and I thought Neal looked tired. He wasn't dropped for playing poorly, I just wanted to make that change."
